MRISAR-NASA Simulator; ISS Space Station, 17'.5" long Robot Arm
MRISAR-NASA ISS Space Station 17'.5" long Teleoperated Robot Arms! We were contracted by NASA to design and fabricate these robotic manipulator arms. They were installed in ISS Space Station Exhibitions for Space Training Camps at the Johnson Space Center and at US Space & Rocket Center! They are used for dexterous manipulator training for space simulations! An alternative version has a 3 Finger hand on its wrist. This is also sold as a kit that can be installed in your own case.
Below is a video and an image gallery showing some aspects of fabrication! We have been making robotic exhibits since 1991! |
Below MRISAR's R&D Team members Autumn, John, Aurora and Victoria Siegel, designing and fabricating MRISAR's NASA ISS Space Station Robot Arms. After being built, they are broken down for ease of shipping and when sold as an exhibit kit. We make reassembly an easy process through the use of custom connectors and frames. Simulator Space Robotics for NASA. This is a MRISAR Simulator of the ISS Space Station Robot Arm. It is 17.5 ft. MRISAR designed and produces this for NASA Space Training Camps and for sale as Simulator Exhibits to Science Centers and Museums. It is a dexterous robotic manipulator arm operated via telepresence and line of sight operation. It was specially commissioned for NASA’s ISS Space Station Exhibitions in Space Training Camps.
This exhibit relates to STEM education. This arm is so gentle it can touch a raw egg without breaking it (as seen in above video)!. It is a highly educational and visually stunning exhibit designed to illustrate remote handling applications for robotics which are used by industry, aerospace and commercial establishments to extend human capabilities in hazardous situations. The exhibit features an arm mounted color camera with pan and tilt and a miniature video monitor placed at the controls. The control panel also features a message repeater to further convey educational content. The exhibit is view-able from all sides making it an ideal mid-floor device. The arm has pressure sensitive and end of travel limits and support logic, that can adapt instantly to any arrangement of objects in its path. The arm is usable by any age range of visitor. This complete exhibit includes an electronic-electromechanical robot arm, exhibit case for the arm, support electronics, visual support materials, maintenance information and schedule, activities and control panel. Available in the original form commissioned by NASA (touch based end effector) or (with a hand mounted for moving of objects). Exhibit footprint is 14’ x 14’. |
