    MRISAR’s Tribute To Tesla’s Egg Of Columbus Apparatus
This exhibit comes in two different floor standing sizes and consists of the main elements of the original experiment by Nikola Tesla with the addition of a number of updated technical features. When the start button is pressed the exhibit timer enables the magnetic field to begin cycling through the complete 360 degrees of rotation at a slow rate while the LEDs in the parameter light in sequence to the switching process of the coils. The two additional push-buttons are for alterations to the speed of the coil rotation process. When the one on the left is pressed the speed increases by a dependable amount and when the second one to the right is pressed at the same time, it accelerates the rotation rate still further. While this process occurs the egg like shape in the center of the activity reacts to the rotating field. At slower rates of rotation the egg shape is simply drawn to turn with the rotation, but as the speed increases the egg takes on momentum and gyroscopic balance. This exhibit conforms to STEM and conveys principles relating to; Rotating magnetic fields, magnetism, oscillation, timed sequence of events, rotational force, gyroscopic effects, mechanical resonance, AC power, Polyphase systems, magnetic excitation and equilibrium, as well as many additional educational aspects.
